The recently released iOS 16.3 update introduced Security Keys for Apple ID, along with other enhancements, bug fixes, and security updates for the iPhone.
It also adds support for the 2nd generation HomePod. The update also addressed some issues where the Lock Screen’s wallpaper sometimes appeared black and Siri did not properly respond to music requests.
However, it appears that the update has introduced some bugs as well, which are affecting one’s ability to use the phone properly.
Notifications not working or don’t show up in iOS 16.3
According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10), some iPhone users are facing an issue where the notifications don’t pop up on their device after the recent iOS update.
Some claim that even though both the in-settings and in-app notifications are turned on for their Gmail app, they are unable to get any notifications for emails received.
Another user on Reddit complained that they don’t get any WhatsApp notifications unless the app is opened.
Even though re-installing affected apps on solved the problem for some time, the issue often pops up after a while. Also, this issue is now affecting other apps as well.
Some have even tried resetting the apps and their smartphone but to no avail.
Notifications not playing sounds
Some iOS 16.3 users (1,2,3,4,5) are also complaining about an issue where neither the notification is displayed, nor sound played.
A user complains that they face this issue when Bluetooth is turned on. It is alleged that this issue affects different iPhone models.
This glitch is preventing users from getting access to sensitive notifications for emails, messages, and much more.
iOS 16.3 Jittery/stuttery notification center
Some (1,2,3,4,5,6) are also facing an issue where the notification center appears to be jittery or stuttery for some. The problem is affecting different iPhone models.
Users also complain about the lag and screen flickering issue in the notification center. Also, when one expands or swipes up to expand notifications, its appearance stutters a lot.
No official response
Unfortunately, Apple has not officially responded to the matter, but we do hope that they acknowledge and fix the notification glitch soon.
That said, we’ll keep an eye on the issue where notifications are not working or broken for some iOS 16.3 users and update this article as and when something noteworthy comes up.
