It is hard to deny that Monster Hunter and the Horizon games are 2 of the more popular video game franchises out there. While there are differences between these successful series, they share some similar themes. Specifically, both task players with taking down dangerous monsters, albeit in mechanized forms in the Horizon games. Recently, one artist decided to blend these two worlds together in a stunning piece of art.

In a post on Reddit, shunixe shared fan art based on Monster Hunter and Horizon Forbidden West. According to the artist, they wanted to make a monster that combined elements from both franchises. The results of this project were impressive. In the image, the Reddit user utilized an art style similar to that seen in Horizon Forbidden West to create a mechanical version of a beast that looked reminiscent of Alatreon, an Elder Dragon from the Monster Hunter series.

One highlight of the design included the metallic paneling that covered many parts of the body of the creature. Despite this mechanized look, it had dragon-like features seen in its Monster Hunter design, such as a pair of massive wings. On top of this, the beast featured horns attached to its head and had a long spiked tail. In addition, the design featured a sleek white and blue color palette with accents of gold and purple mixed in.

While this new fan art of a mecha Alatreon is doubtlessly impressive, it is far from the only artwork designed by shunixe. There are many other creations from the artist featured on Reddit for those interested in seeing more. Among the artwork, they have posted images of crossovers between Pokemon and Monster Hunter. For example, they reimagined what a Garachomp might look like in the world of Monster Hunter. Each of these designs had the same level of detail as that seen in the mecha Alatreon artwork.

Since posting this impressive fan art combining Monster Hunter and Horizon Forbidden West, numerous fans of both series took notice of the design. With over 3.1K upvotes in the Monster Hunter subreddit in only a couple of days, many were impressed with the attention to detail. Some people enjoyed the design so much that they wanted a Horizon Forbidden West crossover to come to the Monster Hunter games in the future.

It will be interesting to see if shunixe decides to make more creatures based on the Monster Hunter series in this mecha form seen in the Horizon games. Or perhaps, they will choose to take some new machines seen in Horizon Forbidden West, such as the Slitherfang, and make organic versions of them in the art style seen in Monster Hunter.
