New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on October 18, 2021) follows:
If you are a customer of the ICICI Bank, you must have heard of ICICI Direct at some point in time. It is a service offered by ICICI Securities with several branches spread throughout India.
ICICI Direct has both a website and a dedicated app that lets users indulge in Equity trading, manage Mutual Funds, invest in IPO, trade Derivatives, and manage their wealth using other means.
All these services can be availed using a single account, making it completely hassle-free. In addition, it also makes it super-easy for people to switch between savings, trading, and Demat accounts.
ICICI Direct is also beginner-friendly making it a viable choice for those looking to invest for the first time. Having said that, it is quite rare for such a service to encounter downtime owing to the time-sensitive nature of the market.
But, as it turns out, many are now reporting that they are unable to access the services from both the app as well as the website. Investors seem angry with ICICI Direct since they are unable to perform any transactions on the platform.
This is really disappointing considering the fact that the service is unavailable when the stock market is open since millions use it to perform transactions and bank operations on a daily basis.
Thankfully, ICICI Direct has acknowledged the issue and said that a fix is underway. However, they did not share any ETA on when the customers will be able to trade once again.
We will update this space once ICICI Direct is up and running so make sure to keep an eye out. Till then, investors will be forced to use other services to keep track of how their investments are performing and check if they are generating any money or not.
Update 1 (October 19)
09:28 am (IST): ICICI Direct confirmed that the issue impacting users was resolved. The website and app should be working as usual.
