Hulu subscribers have been running into various issues lately, irrespective of the platform. We’ve been keeping track of such problems in our dedicated bug tracker that you can check out here.
That said, many users are now troubled with yet another issue that seems to have popped up out of the blue.
According to a flood of reports on Twitter, Hulu subscribers are getting a ‘Connection Disconnected’ error message when trying to watch content.
As you may have noticed from the reports, and well, the title, this ‘Connection Disconnected’ message seems to be affecting mostly those users with Vizio devices.
Making matters worse, the problem has been around for a few days already but there’s still no fix for it. Hence, this has left users with only one choice, and that is to bring this to the attention of Hulu and Vizio.
Fortunately, the support teams from the two companies didn’t take all that long to respond to user complaints.
Hulu claims that they are aware of the ‘Connection Disconnection’ problem with some Vizio devices and are working on a fix.
Vizio support on the other hand has been responding to user complaints by claiming that the problem affects multiple manufacturers and devices with the Hulu application.
While we haven’t come across enough evidence to support Vizio’s claims, we cannot dismiss the same. That said, neither of the two companies have shared an ETA for a resolution.
In the meantime, you can try out some generic troubleshooting steps such as rebooting the device or restarting your Wi-Fi router.

Update 1 (September 27, 2021)
04:27 pm (IST): In a recent response to a user’s complaint regarding the issue, Hulu support claimed they don’t have an ETA for a fix, however, the “right teams” are working to get to the bottom of the issue.
Update 2 (October 2, 2021)
04:27 pm (IST): In case you’ve got an older Vizio TV on which you’re getting the ‘Connection Disconnected’ error, you may have run out of luck as Hulu support has confirmed that they have had to “let some devices go” in an effort to provide viewers the best experience.
This means that you won’t be able to access Hulu anymore on devices that are no longer supported.
