New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…

Original story (published on August 17, 2021) follows:

HSBC UK is a popular banking platform used by many Android and iOS users. Not long ago, the HSBC UK iOS app bagged an update to version 2.39.1.

However, users of the iPhone have been facing login issues with the HSBC UK app after the latest update.

As per multiple reports, the HSBC UK iOS app is constantly crashing at the login screen after the 2.39.1 update.

While most reports about this issue are from those using iPhone models running versions of iOS 12, those on iOS 14.7.1 and even iOS 15 beta are also facing the same.

This further indicates that the crashing problem at the login screen might indeed be with the HSBC UK app and not related to iOS versions.

However, this is still based on speculation as HSBC UK support has only acknowledged the issue for iPhone models running iOS 12 versions.

Also, support has further said that the relevant teams are looking into this problem and are working to resolve it as soon as possible.

It is, however, unclear how long it will take to address this issue as no ETA has been provided by HSBC UK support.

Moreover, there is currently no workarounds for this problem which is further adding to Apple users’ dilemma.

While apps like HSBC UK are meant to simplify banking for users, the latest update is doing the exact opposite of that.

Hopefully, devs soon release a proper fix for this crashing issue so that iOS users can access the app without any hassle.

That said, we will report back with more details as and when new information becomes available so stay tuned.

Update 1 (August 27)

IST 06:50 pm: As per a recent report from Twitter, HSBC UK has planned an update release in the coming days which will also bring fixes for the issues affecting iOS 15 users. However, an exact date has not been provided by support.

Update 2 (September 14)

IST 06:15 pm: It’s now been over two weeks since HSBC UK claimed that a fix will go live in the “next days” but there’s still no signs of an update to resolve the crashing issue. The latest tweet from the bank suggests that a fix is still in the works.

Update 3 (September 23)

IST 05:15 pm: Even though it has been several weeks since the issue popped up, HSBC has still not managed to get its app in order. The bank’s UK support team has also failed to share an ETA for the fix, again.
