While horror fans may be pining after a new Silent Hill game, it doesn’t seem as though there is any glimmer of hope for the influential series. However, in the meantime, there is Slitterhead, a game that is being developed by a team comprised of talented individuals who have worked on the aforementioned SH games, as well as Siren. With Bokeh Game Studios announcing the new horror title last year, fans of the genre, and of the director’s previous work, are no doubt excited, and there’s currently an opportunity to ask the developer some burning questions.

In a recent post on Twitter, the team behind Slitterhead are encouraging fans to post their questions in the thread, in preparation for an upcoming YouTube video where the founding members of the studio will answer as many as they can. The Q&A session on Twitter is ongoing until February 3. With the projected being led by the original Silent Hill director, Keiichiro Toyama, it’s entirely possible that some may bypass any queries about the upcoming horror game and ask about a possible return of the dormant franchise. In fact, there have already been a number of tweets asking about comparisons between the new title and the classic horror games.

With famed composer Akira Yamaoka doing the music for Slitterhead, who also did the soundtrack for the Silent Hill games, it’s perhaps not surprising that people are wanting to compare the two. Currently, not much is known about the game itself, outside the trailer, which was unveiled at The Game Awards 2021. The teaser footage certainly seemed to balance the line between creepy body horror and something that seems like it would be more action-based.

Bokeh Game Studios did shine some light on the game’s setting towards the latter parts of last year, as well as the gameplay. Toyama did say that, while Slitterhead is currently in the early stages of development, it will be set in a fictional place which is inspired by 1980s and 1990s Hong Kong. At the moment, there is no proposed release date for the game, but could well be in development up until the end of this year, which could signify a 2023 release. However, that’s just speculation at this stage.

The cancellation of Silent Hills will always leave a hole in the collective heart of the horror community. With Bokeh Studios pooling resources together to bring something new to the table, it will be interesting to see the original game’s director try something different, and no doubt many fans are excited about having questions answered, and of the game itself.

Slitterhead is currently in development.
