Releasing last week, Hood: Outlaws and Legends looks to be a darker, multiplayer-focused take on the iconic world of Robin Hood, bringing the folklore hero’s allies together for high-octane PvPvE action. For those who missed the game’s reveal, it tasks players with pulling off daring robberies while pursued by a team of rival player-controlled outlaws and AI-controlled enemies, using the abilities of Hood’s main characters to overpower and outsmart their foes.
To celebrate Hood: Outlaws and Legends’ launch, Sumo Newcastle and Focus Home Interactive have dropped a new trailer for the multiplayer title, showing more of its heroes in action and the series of heists they will undertake. The Ranger, The Hunter, The Mystic, and The Brawler each get their moment to shine, with the footage highlighting what makes the individual classes unique.
The Ranger, for example, is clearly a proficient ranged combatant with his trusty bow and arrow, landing grisly headshots on enemies throughout the duration of the promo. Meanwhile, The Hunter is shown to be a strong stealth class, taking enemies down from the shadows and using her wrist-mounted crossbow in ranged fights.
The Mystic and The Brawler spend a lot of the showcase going toe-to-toe with the enemy, with the former wielding his flail as a powerful close-range melee weapon as well as using its long reach to attack opponents from afar. He’s also shown using it to choke out a wandering guard while sneaking to an objective. As for The Brawler, he seems like a typical heavy class, using a giant hammer to smash heads and utilizing his strength to manhandle enemies. One section of the trailer showcases him using his power to open passages during heists, lifting a gate to allow his fellow party members to access a castle keep.
Alongside showing more of the classes in action, the trailer generally teases some tense encounters between rival outlaw teams, as players vie over who will escape with the stolen loot amassed throughout the heist. It looks to be a very different take on the ever-enduring tale of Robin Hood, offering plenty of hard-hitting combat, gruesome deaths, and competitive multiplayer action. The game is officially available now on current and next-generation consoles as well as PC, with early reactions seeming pretty positive. It joins the range of notable 2021 releases vying for players’ attention throughout May, including Resident Evil Village, Biomutant, Subnautica: Sub-Zero, Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, and Rust’s long-awaited jump to PS4 and Xbox One.
Hood: Outlaws and Legends is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
