A penny for your thoughts. What do you believe a person’s greatest flaw is? Is it because of friendships? Is there a lack of superpower? ‘Hellbound’ forces you to stand in front of a mirror and talk to your darkest self – Fear.

Fear is a species’ Achilles heel since it is always left in the dark when it comes to a larger, unknown being commonly referred to as God. Yeon Sang Ho, in a battle with the aforementioned God, challenges yet another of humanity’s most cherished beliefs, making you doubt the validity of it all.

The hour of death of unwitting individuals is announced by smoky, gigantic emissaries of hell known as ‘angels.’

Jung Jin Soo of Yoo Ah In excuses these fatalities by mentioning the faults of those who appear to be normal on the outside but are hit by lightning as these monsters descend to the earth’s surface. When random killings are reported, the world as it is known to others is thrown into complete pandemonium. Who are they blaming? To whom do they pay homage?

The first part of the show revolves around the story of a mother of two who finds herself on the receiving end of a hastily issued decree declaring her death in five days. Yoo Ah In’s charismatic, while some may refer to it as deadly, pull of his casual and well-respected cult leader of The New Truth or Saejinrihoe creates a vulturous affair, and we are drawn in by his nonchalant and well-respected cult leader of The New Truth or Saejinrihoe. He suggests a live broadcast of the woman’s damnation to hell, emphasizing the importance of the public figuring out why she made her “hell-bound proclamation.”

Another unusual component comes in the form of a cult enthusiast who leads the almost comical and unreal side of it all. In neon accessories, he discovers a mole in the investigative team who discloses critical elements of the case to the public during his own live broadcast. The world of Netflix seems to like VIPs who return for a front-row seat to the damnation, where the woman is tossed around and her body is seared to death as soon as the clock strikes 3:00, much to the horror of the victims’ lawyer Min Hye Jin (Kim Hyun Joo).

The decision by director Yeon Sang Ho to choose Yoo Ah In in the lead role pays off handsomely. Throughout the first three episodes, he grabs our attention, and his spirit lingers even later. When the lead detective Jin Kyung Hoon’s (Yang Ik June) daughter Heejeong (Lee Ree) is brought into the mix, we get to the heart of the matter: murder. Jung Jin Soo participates in the horrific conduct and makes the young girl his collaborator in the pretext of purging the earth of its villains.

The truth behind Jung Jin Soo’s charade of seeking to wash away the world’s sins is revealed now that he is a criminal, as he admits to having been looking for the reason for his own announcement of death 20 years ago.

We’re still waiting for the introduction of a new character, PD Bae Youngjae (Park Jeong Min), who appears at the end of the third episode and will be the main character in subsequent episodes.

You’ll be shocked, you’ll doubt reality, and you’ll wonder whether it’s all worth it. We think the weekend is the perfect opportunity to check out Netflix’s new title ‘Hellbound,’ which has a total of 6 episodes.
