If you are into card collecting games, you must have heard about Hearthstone at some point in time. Developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment, it was originally named Heroes of Warcraft.

The free-to-play title uses the same elements, relics, and characters and has the same lore as World of Warcraft. It is a turn-based game that takes place between two opponents with decks of 30 cards and a hero with unique power.

However, bugs such as Brann Bronzebeard and Queen Azshara freezing the game and duels not working have ruined the gameplay experience in the last few months.

Adding to the list of issues, Hearthstone players are now getting a ‘Your account needs to be updated. Please restart the game’ error message whenever they load into the game (1,2,3).

Generic troubleshooting steps such as restarting the game, clearing app data and cache, and reinstalling Hearthstone are not helping either. You can see in the image below what the error message looks like.

Here are some reports from Hearthstone players who are getting the ‘Your account needs to be updated’ error message.

Fortunately, Blizzard has acknowledged the issue where Hearthstone players are getting ‘Your account needs to be updated’ error message. But they did not share any timeframe of when it will be fixed.

We hope the developers soon fix the problem so Hearthstone players can play the game once again. As always, we will be keeping an eye out on the matter and update this space when the issue is resolved so stay tuned.
