Superstar Rajinikanth is celebrating his 71st birthday today, 12th December. He will be celebrating his birthday with his family and close friends. His fans have planned various activities across Tamil Nadu for his birthday, from organising blood donation camps to screening his old films. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also greeted superstar Rajinikanth on his birthday and wished that he keeps inspiring people with his creativity and phenomenal acting. Sachin Tendulkar too took to Twitter to extend birthday wishes to Rajinikanth. “Happy birthday Thalaiva @rajinikanth Sir. Always praying for your good health and happiness in life,” Cricketer Harbhajan Singh was also quick in wishing Rajinikanth on his 71st birthday. He shared an image of himself, showing a tattoo made on the left side of his chest, indicating that the actor stays in the hearts of many.
Rajinikanth’s real name is Shivaji Rao Gaekwad. He was named after Maratha warrior king Chhatrapati Shivaji. Starting his journey from being a bus conductor, he rose to become one of the biggest stars not just in Tamil films but in the history of Indian cinema. At the 67th National Film Awards, Rajinikanth received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award – India’s highest film honour – for his stupendous contribution towards Indian cinema. Superstar Rajinikanth’s birthday is no less than a festival. On the occasion, the Rajini Makkal Mandram said the Rajinikanth Foundation would provide training to 100 students from poor and marginalised sections for the group exams being conducted by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC). Superstar Rajinikanth was last seen in Annaatthe, directed by Siruthai Siva. The film, which was released on Diwali, November 4, managed to impress the audience.
