The romance between Leia Organa and Han Solo is a crucial aspect of the Star Wars narrative, although the film primarily focused on its rocky beginnings and heartbreaking conclusion. In the 30 years between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, the pair married and gradually drifted apart, leaving little evidence that they had experienced true marital bliss.
The Princess and The Scoundrel, a book by Beth Revis that launches in print, digital, and audiobook formats on Tuesday, tries to address that problem. It takes place shortly after the Rebel Alliance defeats the Galactic Empire in Return of the Jedi and reveals that Leia and Han were married almost right away before departing on a bumpy honeymoon. As they get ready for the wedding, the first section of the novel is set on Endor. Since they have won the war and are bringing in a new period of hope for the galaxy, Revis injects this section with the appropriate humour. Han and Leia adjust to the knowledge that Luke Skywalker is their sibling
When the Empire isn’t after them and opportunities appear limitless, it’s just enjoyable to hang around with Lando Calrissian, Mon Mothma, and a lot of other heroes. This happiness surrounds Leia and Han’s Ewok-assisted wedding ceremony, which Revis carefully portrays.
Leia struggles with the knowledge that the late Darth Vader, who had tortured her and Han, watched as her homeworld was destroyed, and was generally a really awful guy in her life, was her father in the midst of all of this. She begins to wonder if she should avoid the dark side like her beloved father or learn to utilise the Force like her twin brother Luke. Leia will embrace the Force and train with Luke, as we know from The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker, but we have seen very little of this trip. In this book, Leia makes her first forays into the outside world, and these are some of the most fascinating parts of the book. Revis does a wonderful job of capturing the unpredictability and peril of this unexpected side of a well-known hero.
Leia and Han get married in The Princess and the Scoundrel, which also teases their futures in intriguing ways. Although their honeymoon isn’t as special, it doesn’t take long for excitement and adventure to revive their affection.
