The shooting incident on the set of the western film Rust in Santa Fe has shaken Hollywood. Alec Baldwin fatally shot cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and critically injured director, Joel Souza, using a “cold gun,” which is a gun that is either unloaded or filled with blank shots.

The event has sparked a debate regarding on-set safety procedures and standards, as well as the negligence that resulted in Baldwin unintentionally handling a genuine weapon loaded with live rounds.

Meanwhile, Hutchins’ father has indicated that Baldwin, who is both a producer and an actor in the film, is not to blame for his daughter’s murder.

Anatoly Androsovych, an ex-military, told the UK tabloid The Sun: “We still can’t believe Halyna is dead, and her mother is going insane with grief.” But I don’t hold Alec Baldwin responsible; I hold the props people who handle the guns responsibly. [Halyna’s son] has been severely harmed – he is completely lost without his mother.”

After the incident, Baldwin issued a statement on Twitter expressing his “horror and sadness.” “There are no words to express my sorrow and anguish over the horrific event that claimed the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother, and highly regarded colleague of ours,” he added. I’m completely working with the police inquiry into the circumstances surrounding this tragedy.”
