Halo Infinite’s full release is not until December 8, but 343 Industries surprised fans with the early launch of the game’s multiplayer beta last month. So far, reactions to appear to be relatively positive overall, though Halo Infinite players remain divided on many issues.

One thing many fans found unimpressive was Halo Infinite’s multiplayer lobby. However, one Halo fan on Reddit wasn’t content to just complain about it and created a highly detailed mockup of their ideal multiplayer lobby.

Reddit user iHeretic created the lobby and uploaded two versions to the social media platform. Both images are identical except for the background. They designed the lobby to reflect several features they want to see implemented, which the poster listed in the comments below. These include an easily accessed roster and visible XP ranks for everyone on the player’s friends list. They would also like the lobby to show stats for the selected player and display their current rank for all playlists. Additionally, iHeretic wanted to include a Halo 3-style population map showing where in the world everyone is playing from. iHeretic also tried to include all of that while reducing the overall visual clutter.

Notably, this is iHeretic’s second attempt at improving Halo Infinite’s multiplayer lobby. The original version, also on Reddit, is more reminiscent of menus from the Bungie era of Halo games. Meanwhile, iHeretic tried to make the newer version more closely resemble the current Halo Infinite interface. The creator of the images also mentioned liking the idea of seeing the fireteam Spartans hanging out in the lobby’s background. However, they’d need to redesign the entire interface around that, which would be much more time-consuming to create.

iHeretic’s posts naturally initiated a discussion of Halo Infinite’s sub-par multiplayer lobbies. Most people thought the mockups were a substantial improvement over 343’s version, but not everyone was a fan. Some didn’t like iHeritc’s idea to bring back the older games’ Map Veto function. Others thought that the mockups failed to actually reduce visual clutter. They argued that iHeretic’s design might look good as a still image but ventured into the territory of information overload.

Still, iHeretic clearly put a lot of work into their version of Halo Infinite’s multiplayer lobby. It’s also definitely more popular than what the game designers went with. So while it’s unlikely that 343 will take note of their creation, the redesigned lobbies definitely contain a few ideas that might be worth considering.

Halo Infinite releases December 8 on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. The multiplayer beta is available now.
